Hello everyone,

I was wondering if I could speak to shop owners, specifically restaurateurs. I have an idea for a fundraiser for the Welcome Center.

Also, if anyone is interested in volunteering at the center you'd be very [she pauses, laughing softly at the unintentional word play] welcome. I can tell you all about how you can help new arrivals.

I know there have been a lot of strange things going on lately, [or at least less expected than curses] but I think it's important to keep up with our day-to-day lives here too. Well, thank you for listening.

I'd like to volunteer more regularly at the center. Is there anything in particular that needs doing?

Hi Teddy. That would be wonderful! Would you rather be working more directly with people or behind the scenes?

I think I'd like to work with people.

You'd be good at that. We can always use more greeters. People who are either monitoring the network or at the center who can help new arrivals get settled and tell them about our services. That's always been my favorite part of it. [She'd much rather meet new people than check inventory lists!]

I could do either. Or both. I check the network a lot anyway.

It would he helpful to have someone at the center throughout the day. There is a completely handwaved schedule that lets people know when others will be there. Of course since everyone is volunteering and curses have a way of complicating things it is a very loose schedule. But you could look at it and choose some time slots to be there and then you'd always be welcome to listen for new arrivals on the network.

Okay, I'll do that. Um...what are our services at this point? I mean, anything besides handing out guides and giving people a temporary place to stay?

We have a limited supply of clothes and food too. And towels of course. So many people come in directly through the fountain. We're trying to keep a listing of possible job opportunities too so that people can get an idea of where they might work.

And then just listening really. And helping them with directions and answering questions.
