Hello, everyone, I've heard a few things about people coming here who are not...alive anymore where they come from. I was just wondering what that's like if someone wouldn't mind talking about it.

Well, I was wondering how people would even know if they were dead I guess hypothetically.

For me, it was fairly obvious with my injury. But for those who weren't in an clear setting when they left, they would know as soon as they arrive.

Your heart no longer beats, and you're unable to produce any sort of body heat. You find soon enough that novelties such as eating and breathing are also quite optional.

But that is the case for any of the deceased here, whether they died in this world or theirs.

[And now you will have a pause because someone is holding her breath. Just in case the lack of a beating heart wasn't enough of a clue for her.

More often than not, it depends on the person. Many choose to continue existing as normally as they can. I for one don't bother with the expense of food unless we have guests, but some find it easier to cope by acting the same as they did before. You will have to find your own way.

In theory, yes. Even though our blood technically no longer flows, we can still bleed to death if we're wounded badly enough. I'm unaware if asphyxiation or drowning will have the same affect on us, since we should be able to hold our breath indefinitely, but the City is often throwing curve balls.

If you do die again, then you ought to be back in a day or so, perhaps a little longer. As far as I know, there is no penalty for dying numerous times, though I would suggest rethinking one's habits if that is the case.

[Tries to take all that in.] I...was thinking of old age. But I suppose with so many dangerous curses around that is good to know. [And obviously she died once so it wasn't so impractical to think of it happening again, just...strange.]

Given that our biological clock has stopped, old age should not present a problem.

Given that this is now your life...so to speak, it's only natural to be curious about how to go about it. My only suggestion is to enjoy what time you do still have with friends, since they or you could disappear at any moment.

I was recently made the sub-viceroy of Japan. There really wasn't a lot I had to do. My sister was the viceroy and always tried to handle everything on her own or she'd have her knights helping me. But it was still something.
