[He lets his arms fall slowly, almost apprehensively, he can't look her in the eye; but, he can't look away from her either.]

No... [He's awkward to say this -- still feeling as if everything is very surreal.] It's hard to explain but...

Where are we and how are you...? [ Alive...? Averting the subject away from himself. He has no desire to really talk about -- even though he doesn't want to keep it from her. He's more interested in how she's doing rather than himself. He's experienced worse than this.]

This place is just called The City. It brings people here. [Softly] And it can bring people back...

[She takes a small step back, but she's still close, just looking at her knight.] I hoped I'd see you today.

[He isn't sure how he feels about it still, even though he's trying to muster up something... anything. Just not responding won't do. His hands clench into fists by his sides.]

I -- see... [A small pause and then he forces a smile. He can't show her that face. He can't let on how unhappy he is or what he's become -- she wouldn't want that.] It's -- good to see you, Euphie.

[She notices the fists and the way his speech hesitates. Is it because of her? Because she's alive? What would something like that feel like? If it was Clovis standing here?

But, no, that comparison isn't...]

I should warn you [or really herself] this might only last a day. Maybe two.

[Blinks at her. Even if it's just a day -- he should cherish that. He shouldn't be -- but that begs the question of why it would only be that long.]

Why? [Offers another smile anyway. He won't allow this to be sad for her.] It's fine -- we were able to meet each other again, right?

This place...it puts curses on us. I think, today, the curse is that other people arrive. If that's right it will end at midnight or midnight tomorrow. [Softly, sadly] And you'll go back. [It's not long enough.]

[But his smile... It makes it better somehow. She smiles back at him.] But it isn't midnight yet.

A-ah... I see. [Awkwardly -- she seems to brighten at his reaction though. If he can just... do this for her sake. If he can try to be happy -- then maybe she'll feel better about herself too.]

At least... we can spend a little time together. [A little hopefully. He isn't sure what they'll do together but -- he isn't ungrateful for seeing her smile again.]

I'd like that. [She reaches out for one of his fists.] Lelouch is here with me too. We have an apartment together. It's been almost two months since we came.

Lelouch is...? [No. It's as though a lot of places are like that. He offers a small smile again. It's obvious that she probably knows what happened with how she's acting. He doesn't withdraw his hand but seems to relax a little.]

He's taking good care of you, isn't he?

Very good. It's been really good having this time with him again and meeting new people. [She squeezes his hand a little] I've missed...other people though. [Even a girl who orders you to love her can be shy with her feelings sometimes.]

[He doesn't deserve her love -- not after he failed her. It might be spitting in her face a little if he said that so instead he squeezes her hand back just a little before withdrawing it. He wants to be close to her -- but he's changed. He's not as innocent as she thought or thinks he is.]

I've -- missed other people too. [Admits it shyly and a little quietly.]

[Smiles and might be blushing just a little] Mmm, come with me. This time I'll show you around. [Like the first time they met.] And you can tell me about your wings?

[Fails at hiding his own blush and then shifts a little awkwardly. His wings are -- noticeable and they move along with him. He can't blame her for asking -- but she won't like the answer. He'll follow.]

I'd like that...

Ah... it's sort of complicated. [Wants to hear about her more than himself.] This place -- curses people? I want to know what you meant by that.

Well, it means different things. A curse might happen and it affects you or it might not. Or it might do something different to you than it does to another person. One time it allowed people to see my dreams and I could walk through theirs too. [Will not be mentioning the time it made her think she loved Zero and became his secret admirer. Or about the time where she got stuck hugging Allen for an entire day.] Sometimes they're dangerous or embarrassing.

This time...I like the curse. [Smiles at him.]

[Looks a little perplexed by her explanation but where he's from it's a little stranger. He can't be too confused by it. He supposes if that's how things work here he'll have to accept it for now.]

That must be hard -- but it's good to see you're... doing well. [Considering last time he saw her she was... bleeding to death.]

I am. [It was so hard when the memories came back. Sometimes it's still hard, but she doesn't want to talk about that now.] I want to show you the zoo. It's my favorite place here. It has real dragons! And unicorns!

[Looks a little awkward even though he's following... of course she'd love a place like that. Wait. Dragons? Unicorns...? That's sort of...]

It... does?

[Smiles, because she knows how it sounds.] Trust me.

You don't need to tell me to. [That came out a little more suddenly than he meant it to. So he just goes to follow her, one wing twitching a bit, as if showing how awkward he feels.]

[She just smiles at his response.] They are beautiful you know.

[Blinks. The animals? He's sure that they are -- she wouldn't make up something like that.] I don't -- doubt it. [But he's obviously thinking how beautiful she is...]

[Why does he have to think like that? But... who can blame him? She is beautiful -- everything about her is. She's... got her flaws but she's also got her strengths.]

[Giggles a little] You're wings. What did you think I meant?

Oh... the animals. [Looks flustered suddenly, feeling very self-conscious suddenly about them and more aware that they're there. For him it's still very new -- but sometimes it's as normal as having arms and legs.]

I don't... know how I feel about them. [Honestly. They do hurt a little.]

Can I touch them?

A-ah? [Doesn't understand why she would want to -- but he won't stop her if that's what she wants.]

I... guess. Be careful though -- they do hurt a little bit. [Well if she is going to touch them it's better to let her know.]
