[The audio starts broadcasting the gentle sounds of the outdoors long before she speaks. Her voice is a little raw. She's been crying, but she's trying not to let it sound.]

Hello.

[Another long pause.]

I'm sorry I'm not contacting everyone individually. I'm not sure who they know well. ...Knew.

[There's another pause, but this time when she returns her voice is a little shakier. All the practice and control in the world can't take the pain out of these words.]

My brother, Lelouch, and sister, Nunnally, have left the City.

[It sounds like she might say more, but after a moment the audio shuts off.]

(OOC: Forward dated to late morning. Euphie is in Xanadu curled up behind a tree if anyone wants to action at her.)

[Just a few minutes before seven there is a Euphie knocking at your door, Tommy.]

[It doesn't take Tommy long to open it, but that's never a surprise. What might be a surprise is the fact that he's dressed pretty nicely, in a plain jacket and slacks. No goggles, even. Same old grin though.]

Hey, Euphie.

Tommy. [A little surprised.] You look nice.

[She's wearing the same thing she put on this morning when she left the apartment. It's a cute dress, perfectly appropriate for a date, and it held up well to the fact she was sitting by a tree earlier.]

[He raises an eyebrow slightly, because really, is it so unusual to think he's capable of looking presentable?]

You look great yourself. [He steps the rest of the way into the hallway and pulls the door shut.] Ready?

[She just expected him to look like usual Tommy.]

Ah, [She doesn't think so at all.] thank you. Sure. Where are we going?

[The usual Tommy's a more complex creature than you might expect. Dressed like this, with his white hair, he looks a bit older than usual.]

Nice place a couple of blocks away that doesn't card. [He grins, not wanting to leave her the room to dwell on sad thoughts, and offers an arm.]

[She doesn't mind that. Age isn't so important to her. Not that he actually is older.]

Card? [You miss out on some of the slang growing up sheltered in the royal family.]

[She accepts his arm easily.]

[Annnd they're walking. See? He can even maintain casual speeds.]

Card. You know-- uh, check to make sure you're old enough to buy alcohol? It's really kinda a formality.

Oh, your identification card. I see. [She's so hip.]

Dean actually mentioned taking me for a drink earlier.

Yeah? Well, I asked first. To be fair.

[Smiles. It's lacking some of the usual ease and brightness, but it's warm.]

You did. [Squeezes his arm a little.]

[At least that's a step in the right direction?]

I figured there's no reason to keep putting it off.

[It is!]

You're right. It's better not to put things off.

[Because you never know when someone will just be gone.]

And... well, you know, anytime you wanna go out...

[He glances over at her and shrugs a bit. He's not planning on going anywhere, after all.]

[She may be missing some connotations in here.]

I'd like that. [Manages another smile. She feels very heavy, but things do seem easier around Tommy.]

[Well, his usual role in a relationship is "being used to make Eli jealous," it's amazing how little he can get by on. More or less contently. More or less.]

After all it can get pretty boring in between curses.

[She wouldn't use him to make anyone jealous on purpose. She might find herself somewhat involved with a couple of guys without meaning to though.]

Do you think so? I don't often feel bored here. Though... [She had spent a lot of family time with the others lately.]

A change of pace can be nice.

[Are they getting close?]

[He leads them around a last corner and towards a little hole-in-the-wall bar; kind of a dive, but not the dangerous sort.]

Maybe I'm just not used to it yet. [He sounds doubtful.]

I didn't spend my life before this place in such an exciting way as you did.

[It's definitely not the kind of place a princess often went, but she finds that sort of thing interesting and follows him along to see where he wants to sit.]

I probably shouldn't complain about it not being exciting here, or we'll end up invaded by supervillains or something.

[He leads them over to the bar itself and settles into a stool.]

You know what you want?

Do they really call themselves supervillains? [Manages to sit gracefully despite wearing a dress.]

...Not really. Something sweet maybe? [Not whiskey like Dean suggested.]

Well, mostly everyone else does. It gets complicated.

[He smiles and turns to order, a beer for himself and a pink lemonade for her.]

But I guess here it's kind of a free-for-all, everyone versus the City.

Yes...

I wish there weren't any curses. Maybe things would be more peaceful then.

[She smiles when the drinks are put down in front of them.] Oh! It's so pretty. I've only ever had wine and champagne before. [She takes a sip.] It's good. Thank you.

Or people'd get bored and cause trouble. Who knows.

[He shrugs it off, though, because that's a depressing avenue of conversation.]
